"Have you ever wondered whether the money you spend ends up funding causes you oppose?
A buycott is the opposite of a boycott. Buycott helps you to organize your everyday consumer spending so that it reflects your principles." Buycott
On the recommendation of a friend, I downloaded the free App called Buycott.
I did so because I wanted to see which companies think its okay to leave GMO ingredients off food labels. I don't know how you feel about GMOs, but regardless I believe we've come a long way in having foods properly labeled so people can decide if they want to purchase foods with certain ingredients or not and so companies are accountable to their customers, the people that support them. If this App is correct, here is a company I will avoid. I found it interesting by clicking on the company's family tree, that Dean Foods owns Horizon Organics. A bit of a conflict of interest perhaps? Does that make any sense that they support GMOs but turn around and market organics? All about the bottom line, I suppose.
I, for one, like having the ability to know who produces the food I buy, what's in it and what other causes they support or don't support. Dean Foods' dollars voted No on Prop 37. My dollars can vote not to do business with Dean Foods or any other company that voted No on Prop 37 if I choose, now that I have this handy app.
If you want to know more about the companies you purchase from, check out this free App. I'm going to be doing a little more research in my free time!
Buycott. Very interesting.
