If I could spend time on just one Social Media platform, I would narrow it down to my 2 favorites, which are Pinterest and Instagram.
What I love about Pinterest is the bulletin board and collage style, all in one visual feast. If I’m looking for recipes, instructions, how-tos; I will almost always start now with a search on Pinterest before Google. I actually use it more often now for my own bookmarks, especially quilt ideas and patterns, recipes, quotes, and travel, than I do the bookmark bar in my browser window.
There are downsides to Pinterest too. Sometimes links expire or people edit a link on their blog and the bookmark is no longer valuable for anything besides the picture. And sometimes people change the links under a picture to lead to a spam or explicit adult site.
I just started going through all my pins, with the help of a virtual assistant, to keep the pins up to date and make sure if there is a link, it’s still good. And I always click through someone else’s pinned picture and check the link before I go back and pin it to my own boards.
My favorite boards on my Pinterest page right now are the quilting ones, including one just for free Christmas quilted and sewing patterns, mug rugs et al, and recipes. You can find me at Pinterest/annedovel.
Why I like Instagram in tomorrow’s blog post!
